Walter Dee Sullivan Sr., 88, of Holcomb, died Saturday, May 12, 2012, at the VA Hospital in Jackson. Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, May 13, 2012, at National Funeral Home. Funeral Services were at 2 p.m. Monday, May 14, 2012, at Calvary Baptist Church in Carroll County. Burial followed in Calvary Cemetery.
Walter was born on July 17, 1923, in Yalobusha County to Dee Gilford Sullivan and Laura Carter Sullivan. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and a WWII Army Veteran. He was employed as a construction worker and a farmer for most of his life.
Walter was preceded in death by his wife, Emogene Little Sullivan; his parents; and a host of brothers and sisters.
Survivors include his two daughters, Linda Davis of Batesville and Rosie Watkins of Pearl; four sons, Walter Dee Sullivan Jr. of Duck Hill, Sidney G. Sullivan of Madison, Allen T. Sullivan and James E. Sullivan, both of Holcomb; 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
The Rev. Ferrell Wilson and the Rev. Bud Vance officiated the services with, Matthew Sullivan, John Dee Sullivan, Timothy Allen Sullivan, David Doubleday, Bill McCammon and Roger Tanksley serving as pallbeareres, and Chris Riley and Danny Trusty serving as honorary bearers.
National Funeral Home was in charge.
